Tell us about the attack
My six-month-old puppy, Triton, was attacked and killed by a pit bull mix while at a doggie daycare. Its spine was crushed, and there were four puncture wounds, two into the chest cavity and two into the abdomen. The injuries were too severe to save baby Triton’s life.
How has your life changed as a result of the attack?
I will never again bring a dog to a doggie daycare. When I am out with my dogs, to protect them from pit bulls I now carry pepper spray at all times and a baton that carries 9 million volts.
There were no repercussions. Neither the doggie day care nor the pit mix owner were fined. The Yavapai sheriff department did absolutely nothing. The pit mix was not even labeled a dangerous animal.
What would you like people to know as a result of your attack?
A lot of people with pits and pit mixes don’t understand dog genetics or behavior very well so you need to make sure you keep your pets protected to the full extent you can.
