Name: Last small town farmer
Victim: Pet
Location: On my farm, Texas
Year of attack: 2021
Tell us about the attack
We in Texas are going through this terrible freeze. I have managed to keep 3 mom exotic goats and their five 6 week old kids alive in the barn with a heat lamp for a week now, being told on local news that this weekend will be nice so they can finally return to their pen.
Yesterday February 17, 2021 at 5 PM, 3 pit bulls ripped the gate off the barn door, killed all the babies first, then ripped all the ears off the moms and 1 mom died within an hour, the other two, I will probably find deceased this morning. I bandaged them up the best I could, but with the weather, I can not get them medical attention.
This is the second time this has happened. It happened approximately 5 years ago, when 8 moms were killed that were ready to kid were killed by pit bulls. I am devastated.
How has your life changed as a result of the attack?
It is difficult to sleep. I am considering giving up my small farm, which has been a great sense of joy for me.
The city I live in has grown leaps and bounds, but I let anyone with children come pet the kids and see the goats, as some children have never been that close to animals like this.
I am extremely sad and putting it mildly, so frustrated and disgusted with these owners of the pit bulls and taking no responsibility for them!
Legal Consequences
Looking for owners. Police report taken.
What would you like people to know as a result of your attack?
I would like restitution for my goats. I would like that the owner of the pit bulls has their rights to own any more pit bulls revoked, and that that judgement be followed up on.
