Tell us about the attack

Yesterday my daughter and I went for a walk at about 7 p.m. to the Bower Pond in Red Deer, Alberta. We were close to the performing scene. Suddenly from the corner of the bridge from a long distance an American Amstaff pit bull terrier started to run very quickly at us. At first, my daughter didn’t see him and I covered her body with mine but when she saw it she started screaming. The pit bull pushed me down so hard that I couldn’t get up to help my child. The pit bull started to jump over my child trying to push her almost into the water. She was really close to falling but managed to stand on her feet. I screamed and only then did the owner command the pit bull back. I was scared and said to the owner that I would call the police, that you need to keep your pit bull on the leash close to yourself, but he turned the other way and didn’t apologize.

How has your life changed as a result of the attack?
I now really have emotional stress being outside in the park where I used to go for many years and never ever that happened to us. All dog lovers were keeping their dogs with leashes. In this pit bull attack, the owner didn’t say a word to stop it in time on the way to us.

Legal Consequences
The police they didn’t help me as my daughter was ok, her warm winter coat and mittens protected her from the pit bull’s bites. I still going to investigate this as unsafe animal control in the public places by reporting it to the Animal Enforcement.

What would you like people to know as a result of your attack?
If you see this guy in the Bower Park please let me know!!! He needs to be responsible for what he is doing, especially for the safety of families with smaller kids. I will appreciate any information.
