Pit bulls eviscerate elderly, blind dog

Victim: Adult, Pet
Location: Street, Florida
Year of attack: 2022

Tell us about the attack

On November 3rd, 2022, I was out walking my elderly, blind 27 lb. Jack Russell Terrier on a leash. We walked past a house with a fence behind which there were two barking dogs. A woman opened the gate, and two unleashed, uncollared pit bulls rushed out.

No one was aware there were pit bulls in our community. They are not allowed.

The pit bulls immediately came after my dog and me. I tried to pick my dog up, but the pit bulls started biting both of us and I was thrown to the ground. They ripped my dog’s intestines out and kept attacking her and me until they killed her.

I was taken to the hospital with multiple dog bites.

Animal Control did not take the illegal pit bulls, but left them with their owner in the community.  They were still there in the community as of when I wrote this, December 11th, 2022. The pit bulls also proved to be unvaccinated.

How has your life changed as a result of the attack?
My life will never be the same. Witnessing your baby being viciously murdered is something that will never leave me. It’s a reoccurring flash back etched in my mind. I now suffer PTSD and have a severed nerve in my left Achilles.

I lost my best friend.

Legal Consequences

It turned out that a house owner in the community had rented his home out, and it was the female tenant who brought the pit bulls into our community. My HOA is taking legal steps to fine the homeowner, who did not follow protocol for renting his unit out, and have his tenants evicted.

The pit bull owner herself was issued fines but has the right to appeal the decision. I am waiting for that decision. Any money from fines won’t come to me, anyway.

What would you like people to know as a result of your attack?
Never trust pit bulls.
