Tell us about the attack

I rented a guest house from a guy who has three large pit bulls. I had a Lhasa apso service dog. We let the animals get used to each other several times before moving in together. I mentioned to the pit bull owner that his biggest blue nose pit was rather aggressive, very sporadically it seemed. He then would constantly reassure me that nothing would ever happen. His pit bulls were supposed to be the sweetest animals in the world, etc.

Last Tuesday, August 17, 2021, the pit bull owner mentioned he was going to SoCal and asked me to keep an eye on his three pit bulls. Feeling pressured, I complied. He would put them in a shed area that he had made to secure them safely. Friday night while coming home from dinner we walked through the gate like normal and his pit bulls broke out of the shed and attacked us.

I was a bit nearly 20 times by the pit bulls. The pit bulls literally ripped my dog’s back leg off in front of me. He later died in the ICU at UC Davis. In my heart, this was not an attack on a pet or an animal but a family member that was murdered cold-blooded in my arms while I and my girlfriend fought for our lives at the same time.

The pit bulls’ owner wasn’t there but the very first thing he said to me was that it was my fault. He had no idea of how anything happened, he just automatically said it was my fault. This guy is a scumbag.

I found out later that this is literally the third time his pit bulls have done this to someone.

How has your life changed as a result of the attack?
I may need plastic surgery on my chin. My dog died in intensive care unit three days later. He was my entire life, my heart and soul. I have no family. I have nothing to live for at this moment. My life has changed so dramatically to the point where I’m barely sleeping or eating.

Legal Consequences
The pit bull owner was not fined at all. I’ve tried every avenue I can possibly go down including hiring legal help. Animal control will not help me whatsoever. They literally smiled in my face and told me that I can’t do anything about it.  I asked the pit bull‘s owner to help me pay the medical bill, which was a total of $8400, and he and his girlfriend, they answered and slandered me aggressively, telling me I’m not getting anything.

What would you like people to know as a result of your attack?
I want retribution to make sure my heart and soul did not die for nothing. Animal control refuses to put his pit bulls down, but I want justice to be served the right way because I guarantee this will happen again. What’s next, a human child?

I’m begging for help. Someone please help me get justice for my baby.
