Black miniature pinscher

Miniature pinscher slaughtered by pit bull in out-of-the blue, unprovoked attack

Name: DMK
Victim: Pet
Location: Walking around a campground, New Brunswick
Year of attack: 2022

Tell us about the attack

I suffered a preventable and horrible loss of my sweet little miniature pinscher, Milo, on this past Saturday.

We were walking around the same path we had taken hundreds of times before. At the boat launch. There was a truck parked there not too far off. We stopped only for a second to look at the water. Just as I turned away from the water, I saw a pit bull leaping out of the opened truck window and racing towards us. Milo screamed and ran behind me for protection, but before I could pick him up the pit bull grabbed him. I started screaming. A man tried to get Milo out of the pit bull’s mouth and he almost succeeded but then the pit bull swallowed Milo’s whole head in his maw and started shaking him.

By now, two men were punching the pit bull. They forced it to the ground and one man kept yelling, “get his mouth open.” But I could see my sweet baby hanging out of the monster’s mouth, and I already knew his body was lifeless.

How has your life changed as a result of the attack?
I am devastated, I can’t stop crying and I see my poor little boy hanging out of that pit bull’s mouth whether I am awake or sleeping.

What would you like people to know as a result of your attack?
I wish pit bull owners would understand that a simple thing like a muzzle on them could save other dog’s lives. These attacks can be slowed down by a respectful and responsible owner. I would like to see a law passed to this effect that I would call, “Milo’s law.”
