Tell us about the attack

On October 27th, 2022, my husband and I were walking our one-year-old golden retriever around our private neighborhood. We spotted a pit bull about 60 yards from us near a tree not on a leash with no owner around. It saw us and immediately ran towards us and latched on to our golden’s neck, with no provocation or reason! Thank God we saw it coming because my husband was prepared. My husband grabbed a hold of it and wrestled him to the ground as I was pulling our dog away. The pit bull bit our dog’s neck then got a hold of his leg and lastly his tail. My husband choke-held it on the ground in the middle of the street as I ran home with our dog. My husband’s knees, elbows and hands were all cut up and bleeding. He let the pit go and another neighbor trapped it in another neighbor’s back yard until animal control came out.

How has your life changed as a result of the attack?

I have three young sons and now I can’t let them play outside and I can’t walk my dog without being in fear this pit bull will get out and attack again.

Legal Consequences
Animal control and the sheriff’s department will not release the pit bull owner’s name or let us know if the pit bull was released but said the dog does live in our neighborhood.

What would you like people to know as a result of your attack?
It could have been a lot worst if my husband wasn’t on the walk with me because I wouldn’t have been able to fight the pit bull off and it could have killed my dog and injured myself.  It was an evil monster intent on killing and my husband legit saved me and our dog’s life.

Tuesday October 4, 2022, I took my 11-month-old girl for a stroll in her stroller around the block with our 2-year-old Blue Merle Aussie, named Mabel. During our short walk, a pit bull mix broke through the fencing of a neighbor’s yard and aggressively ran at my child’s stroller. I stepped in the way and the pit bit into my right hand, lacerating and puncturing my finger. Our Aussie stepped in between to protect my daughter and me. The pit was relentless, ripping and shredding Mabel’s underbelly region, tearing chunks of tissue off the bone of her legs and leaving puncture markers all over her body. I fought with everything I had to get the pit mix off her to no avail! Thankfully a neighbor offered a rake and honked a car horn to scare off the pit. Mabel was rushed to an ER for surgery and I required medical care for my hand.

How has your life changed as a result of the attack?
Sadly Mabel will forever have mobility limitations due to the attack. My daughter was traumatized by the experience.

I don’t think I will ever feel safe again walking in the neighborhood without a weapon and pepper spray.

Legal Consequences
The owner was given a warning for not fencing the dog properly. More legal action will be taken but at this time the owners were given a warning and all I could do was write a complaint to animal control.

What would you like people to know as a result of your attack?
Pit bulls are killing machines; once they start a fight they won’t stop until they kill. They are unpredictable and will attack unprovoked, sadly attacking even children.

Unprovoked pit bull attack in city park

Tell us about the attack

On a Tuesday evening my son and I took my dog, a shepherd-corgi mix, for our evening walk to the park where we go every night. As soon as we got to the park a man came running up to me yelling “GET OUT OF HERE MY DOG IS LOOSE, SHE’LL KILL YOUR DOG PLEASE GET OUT OF HERE GO!” No sooner had I turned to leave than I saw this flash of white. It was a huge white pit bull making straight for my son. Our brave dog threw herself in front of my son. The pit just locked on to her and dragged her away so hard it yanked the leash out of my hand. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the sounds of her screams. The pit’s owner tackled it and punched it in the head until it let go of my dog. Unfortunately I didn’t stick around to get his info as my dog was hurt bad and I just rushed her to the emergency vet.

How has your life changed as a result of the attack?
I’ve been traumatized by this. Every time I hear a strange dog bark I jump and shake. I don’t know if I’ll ever feel safe walking my dog again.

Legal Consequences
The pit bull owner has not been located.

What would you like people to know as a result of your attack?
Just like bears or tigers or any other dangerous animal, pit bulls should not be pets.
