Update: More information about the lawsuit filed by the family of the 95 year old victim who was fatally mauled by a pit bull November 6 in Suffield. This article includes a link to the lawsuit.
“This terrible loss is compounded by the fact that it was entirely preventable. And the family’s pain is made even worse by the extreme efforts being employed to fight the Animal Control officer’s decision to euthanize this obviously dangerous dog. Had that much energy been used to control the dog in the first place, this tragedy would not have happened,” said Attorney Houlihan." fox61.com/2019/12/12/family-of-95-year-old-enfield-woman-mauled-to-death-by-dog-files-lawsuit/ … See MoreSee Less

Update: The family of Janet D’Aleo, the 95 year old woman fatally attacked by a pit bull owned by the Senior State Director of the CT Humane Society while a guest in her home on November 6 in Suffied, has filed a lawsuit against the pit bull’s owners.
"The lawsuit describes the injuries as “significant bite wounds and lacerations to her lower extremities, resulting in flesh, muscle and tendon loss; injuries to the nerves, muscles, and soft tissues of her body; and a shock to her entire system."
It also says that the Hornishes knew, or should have known “of the propensity of this dog to attack and/or bite persons in proximity to said dog, yet failed to take any action to prevent said dog from attacking and killing the plaintiff’s decedent.”
They also “consciously ignored behavioral indicators that the dog presented an unreasonable danger,” it says.
The dog has bitten a person and another dog before the deadly attack, it says. In addition, the dog was not properly licensed, and the Hornishes failed to provide a valid rabies vaccination certificate to the town."
