Dear Mr. Larizza,

I’m a supporter for a national, non-profit dog attack victims’ group dedicated to reducing serious dog attacks and supporting victims – National Pit Bull Victim Awareness.

I’m writing to ask you to please dismiss the felony / misdemeanor charges against Daniel Robinson. He has every right to protect himself on his own property from a dangerous dog. It’s unconscionable that the owner of the offending pit bull, Teresa Culver, was not charged instead with dog-at-large, terrorizing the public and endangering the public.

The police report shows that this dog had a previous bite history and four complaints of terrorizing the neighborhood. It’s an epic fail by animal control / police that the dog was not removed from the neighborhood prior to this incident. The neighbors were being terrorized and held hostages in their own neighborhood by this dangerous dog. The police failed to do anything about it and should be held accountable for not doing their job before this incident.

Yes, Daniel Robinson went and got his gun for protection which he has every right to do on his own property. He went back outside to check on the situation to see if the owner got the dog back over the fence. Which is also his right on his own property. That’s when the dangerous dog broke free from its lead. At this point, Daniel Robinson has every right to defend himself against the dangerous dog that was going to attack him.

Police / animal control can’t get to someone’s place fast enough to take care of the dangerous situation. Dangerous dogs need to be dealt with immediately for the safety of the neighborhood. We have children playing in our neighborhoods. We can’t have animal control / police showing up 5-20 minutes (or even days) later trying to locate the dog.

When a dog owner loses control of his / her dogs they lose control of the outcome. Dogs at large that present a danger to peaceful citizens must be dealt with. Teresa Culver was a chronic leash law offender. She is the one that needs to be charged for harboring a dangerous animal.
